In order to help identify changes in Portuguese consumer habits during specific periods such as the Santos Populares celebrations, SIBS is publishing a set of indicators and aggregated data in infographic format, in a clear and factual manner, and with comparisons with previous periods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As can be seen in the attached infographic, and based on data from SIBS Analytics, the number of transactions – purchases and withdrawals – on the nights of the Santos Populares (Santo Ant\u00f3nio, S\u00e3o Jo\u00e3o and S\u00e3o Pedro) increased by 34% compared to the daily average recorded in June, between 8pm and 6am, in the municipalities where they were celebrated, with the average value per purchase standing at \u20ac23. It should also be noted that MB WAY payments, during the period under review, increased by 51% compared to the same period last year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
When analysing the different nights of the Santos Populares, it can be seen that it was on the night of 28 to 29 June, when S\u00e3o Pedro is celebrated, that there was the greatest growth in the number of transactions (+58% compared to the June average), reaching an average value per purchase of \u20ac29. At the same time, the number of MB WAY payments almost doubled, with an increase of 97% compared to 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On the night of Santo Ant\u00f3nio (12\/13 June), purchases and withdrawals grew by 29% compared to the June average, with an average value per purchase of \u20ac23. Also on this night, the number of MB WAY purchases increased by 60% compared to the previous year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Finally, on S\u00e3o Jo\u00e3o night (23\/24 June), the number of transactions also grew by 29%, reaching an average value per purchase of \u20ac20. On the other hand, the number of MB WAY payments increased by 31% compared to 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Analysing the number of transactions per hour during the period of the festive nights under analysis, it can be seen that in all the festivities there was a greater concentration of transactions between 8pm and 9pm, which was 36% on the night of S\u00e3o Pedro, 29% on the night of Santo Ant\u00f3nio and 27% on the night of S\u00e3o Jo\u00e3o.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
