On the nights of the Santos Populares celebrations, transactions made by foreigners accounted for 21% of the total purchases and withdrawals. According to data shared by SIBS Analytics, this represents an increase of +12% compared to the same period last year.

Transactions and payments made with MB WAY also saw a notable growth of +31%, with an average ticket value of €20. Overall, compared to the daily average number of transactions in June, the nights of Santo António, São João, and São Pedro registered 18% more transactions, with an average ticket value of €27.

Analyzing the different nights of the Santos Populares, it is possible to see that the night from June 28 to 29, when São Pedro is celebrated, showed the highest growth in the number of transactions (+46% compared to the June average), reaching an average purchase value of €30. At the same time, the number of purchases and withdrawals via MB WAY increased proportionally, with an average spend of €24. Foreigners accounted for 13% of this total, an increase of 39% compared to last year. From midnight to 4 a.m., the period with the highest variation in transactions compared to the June daily average was registered, peaking at 3 a.m. with an increase of +149%.

On the night of Santo António, from June 12 to 13, purchases and withdrawals grew by 23% compared to the June average, with an average purchase value of €26. The highest variation in transactions relative to the daily average of the month occurred at 3 a.m., with a peak growth of +99%. The number of MB WAY transactions increased by 33% compared to the daily June average, with an average spend of €17. Purchases and withdrawals made by foreigners accounted for 30% of total transactions, up 11% compared to the same period last year.

In the north, on the night of São João, from June 23 to 24, the number of transactions grew by 13%, reaching an average purchase value of €24. The number of purchases and withdrawals via MB WAY increased by 16% compared to the June average, with an average ticket value of €19. From 1 a.m. onwards, the variation in transactions compared to the same hours on other days of the month exceeded +100%, reaching +220% and +241% at 3 a.m. and 4 a.m., respectively. Transactions made with foreign cards accounted for 20% of total transactions, up 8% compared to 2024.
